“Heartquake / Redux” marks an important Italian Progressive Rock return, by a band that already in the 80s and 90s, with only three albums, left their mark inside a soaring scene, inspired by English new-prog bands such as Marillion, Pallas and IQ.

The five-man band from Rome had few resources at the time, but very clear ideas, and recorded a seminal debut in just five days, with the aim of keeping alive a musical genre as important as progressive rock. With the same spirit, Leviathan return today to take up their instruments with an excellent reboot of their debut album, due in the first place to the comeback of the band’s founder, singer and lyricist Alex Brunori, who also designed the beautiful artwork of this release. Together with the original members, also including Andrea Moneta (drums) and Andrea Amici (keyboards), we find two Italian Prog true stars, bassist Andrea Castelli and guitarist/producer Fabio Serra.

This reunion made it possible to re-record “Heartquake” with the care and attention to details that limited resources prevented at the time. The result is a timeless little gem!

“Heartquake / Redux” segna un importante ritorno sulle scene del Progressive Rock Made in Italy, quello di una formazione che già negli anni ’80 e ’90 con soli tre dischi fu in grado di lasciare il segno all’interno di un panorama in forte rinascita, ispirato al new prog inglese di band quali Marillion, Pallas e IQ.

I cinque ragazzi romani all’epoca avevano pochi mezzi, ma idee molto chiare, e registrarono in soli cinque giorni un debutto seminale, con l’obiettivo di tenere in vita un genere musicale importante come il rock progressivo. Con il medesimo spirito i Leviathan tornano oggi a imbracciare gli strumenti con un eccellente reboot del loro disco d’esordio, segnato innanzitutto dal ritorno nella band del fondatore, il cantante e lyricist Alex Brunori, autore anche del bellissimo artwork di questa edizione. Insieme ai componenti originali, che comprendono anche Andrea Moneta (batteria) e Andrea Amici (tastiere), troviamo due vere stelle del prog italiano, il bassista Andrea Castelli e il chitarrista/produttore Fabio Serra.

Grazie a questa reunion è stato quindi possibile registrare nuovamente “Heartquake” con la cura e l’attenzione ai dettagli che le limitate risorse impedirono all’epoca. Il risultato è un piccolo gioiello senza tempo!
